Abbos
Kosimov is
one of the most regarded musicians of the doira (Uzbek national percussion
instrument) having received the the title of Honored Artist of Uzbekistan
from president Islam Karimov on the 10 th annivesary of Uzbekistan's
independence. Renowned for both his depth of knowledge of the
wide variety of national repertoire, and for his contribution to the
musical and technical advancement of the doira. In 1998, Abbos founded
the Abbos Group of national instruments, which is extremely popular ensemble
in Uzbekistan.
In addition, he has
collabarted in numerous contemporary settings outside of Uzbekistan with
percussion artists Hands On'Semble, Adam Rudolph, Giovanni Hidalgo, Zakir
Hussain, and recently recorded with American popular music superstar
Stevie Wonder. Abbos has performed at major festivals in
the USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxemurg, Greece, Taiwan,
Thailand, and Malayasia. |
